On September 14, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Armen Papikyan met with Zhang Hanhui, Deputy Foreign Minister of China in Beijing.

The meeting was followed by political consultations between Foreign Ministries of Armenia and China, during which the sides reiterated their commitment to further deepen, ensure the consistency and develop the Armenian-Chinese friendly relations.

The parties discussed and reached agreements on issues related to political dialogue and mutual visits of high-level officials, cooperation between the Foreign Ministries, realization of the potential of trade and economic cooperation, expansion of legal framework, promotion of tourism and further facilitation of visa regime for citizens of both countries, including liberalization, as well as  the cooperation within the framework of international organizations, technical assistance provided by China to Armenia, contacts and exchanges in the humanitarian sphere.

Deputy Minister Papikyan also briefed on the recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for the position of the People's Republic of China to support the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts aimed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.

Within the framework of the visit Armen Papikyan also had a meeting with Qian Hongshan, the Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Issues related to bilateral cooperation were touched upon during the meeting. Both sides highlighted the importance of interconnecting and deepening the development strategies of Armenia and China. The sides commended the course of implementation of the agreements reached and expressed readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.

On September 15, the delegation headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister left for Shanghai for the meeting with representatives of the city authorities.
