Minister Hakob Arshakyan had a meeting with the Minister of Transport of China Li Xiaopeng

Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan, visiting China as a member of the delegation headed by the Prime Minister of RA Nikol Pashinyan, had a meeting with the Minister of Transport of China Li Xiaopeng.

Li Xiaopeng introduced the work of transport infrastructure development in China and expressed readiness to cooperate in several fields.

Thanking for receiving him Minister Arshakyan introduced the road construction projects in Armenia highlighting especially the role of “North-South Transport Corridor” construction. He pointed out that he had also a meeting with the heads of China Railway Group, who are interested in being involved in the implementation of construction works of “North-South Transport Corridor Investment Program”.

The Minister stressed the strategic importance of “North-South Transport Corridor” for the region and Armenia as well as the importance of considering it as a part of “Belt and Road Initiative”.

The parties also discussed the opportunities of direct flights between Armenia and China, abolition of authorization for freight transportation through the territory of Armenia to China, the necessity of having an agreement in the field of freight transportation to have growth in this field. Involvement of Chinese organizations in the road construction projects in Armenia was discussed as well.

The parties assessed the meeting as positive and mentioned that it would contribute to common work and enhance partner connections.
