RECEPTION ON THE OCCASION OF THE 28TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA IN BEIJING

On September 20, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the People’s Republic of China hosted a solemn reception on the occasion of the 28th Anniversary of Armenia's Independence. The Chinese side were represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Qin Gang, representatives of the International Cooperation Department of the Central Committee of Communist Party, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Central Military District of the People's Liberation Army, Major-General Wang Jianmin, representatives of the Department of Europe and Central Asia of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, other ministries and state institutions, media and companies.

Heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Beijing, military attaches, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization V. Norov were also present.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the People’s Republic of China Mr Sergey Manasaryan and Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Jin Gan delivered speeches. The two sides particularly emphasized the progress of the Armenian-Chinese relations, the evidence of which became the visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Beijing this year and his meetings with the leadership of the People’s Republic of China, the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the All-China People's Assembly to Armenia, the expected visits of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the signing of an agreement on the abolition of visas between the two countries. The Chinese side also highly appreciated the partnership with Armenia and expressed readiness to implement joint projects in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The same day, the embassy hosted a reception for Armenians living and working in Beijing. An event dedicated to National Day of Armenia is planned at the Beijing Expo-2019 Armenian Pavilion on September on the occasion of the Independence Day of Armenia.
