Ambassador Vahe Gevorgyan participated in an event dedicated to the International Day for Biological Diversity

On May 22, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the People's Republic of China, Vahe Gevorgyan, participated and delivered a speech at an event dedicated to the International Day for Biological Diversity, held in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province. The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

In his speech, Ambassador Gevorgyan emphasized the imperative of addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and deforestation. He underlined the need for strengthened international efforts to protect, restore and sustainably use ecosystems and natural resources.

The Armenian Ambassador noted that Armenia is preparing to host the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2026. He stressed that Armenia is ready to work with all interested parties to organize an inclusive and effective conference and to contribute to the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity, its protocols, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The event was also attended by the EU Ambassador to the PRC and a representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Beijing office.
